Biodiversity on Land, at Sea, and on Tam

Wednesday, September 29, 2021
4:00 – 5:30 pm

Northern California is a global biodiversity hotspot. Protecting this large variety of plants, animals, and ecosystems is essential to the health of our environment — and ourselves! With loss of biodiversity threatening to amplify the effects of climate change, come hear how you can support local and statewide efforts to protect species and their habitats.

The event explores why California is a globally significant biodiversity hotspot, discuss important drivers of biodiversity loss and explore the broad portfolio of solutions that are already underway.  Each speaker will focus on their area of expertise to provide a comprehensive view of biodiversity within the following ecosystems:

  • The ocean, particularly around the shores of Marin
  • The plants of Northern California
  • Mount Tamalpais and its protected areas
