Climate Change — “No More Business As Usual"
Securing a Climate-Safe Future

This is the first class of the Forum 2020 series*

September 15, 2020

10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Ellie Cohen, CEO of The Climate Center

This is your chance to get caught up on the latest science of the climate crisis--and learn about an ambitious yet realistic campaign to avert the worst of it.

Our speaker, Ellie Cohen (named one of “100 Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet” in the US by the National Women’s History Project) will update you on the science of climate change and describe what she’s working on now: The Climate Center’s Climate-Safe California campaign.

This campaign spells out a way to bring Californians together to rapidly reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and launch drawdown at scale, as required by the latest science and climate reality--while also creating new jobs, restoring our environment, and protecting our most vulnerable communities.

Come and get inspired by this visionary campaign, which aims to make California an example for the nation and the rest of the world. It spells out how we can meet climate policy timelines by:

  • Accelerating the phase-out of fossil fuel development, production, and use
  • Increasing carbon sequestration
  • Investing in community resilience
  • Generating the funds needed for urgent climate action
